This is to advise residents that the Squareabout and the four roads leading to it for about twenty metres will be closed to all traffic from 10.45 a.m. until 11.15 a.m. on Monday 10th November. (This is a correction to the article in the Newsletter and previous post)
This is to ensure that the National Remembrance Day service at the War Memorial in St Nicolas Churchyard can take place. The necessary Traffic Controls orders have been agreed with MVDC and other services who will be affected have been informed.
Remembrance Sunday – 10th November
After the Remembrance Sunday service and laying of wreaths at the War Memorial at St Nicolas Church at approximately 11.30 am the Third Bookham Scouts will walk to the Canadian Friendship Tree in Eastwick Park Avenue (about 50m from the Lower Road junction).
The Friendship Tree was planted after the 1939-45 war in memory of those Canadians who were based on Great Bookham, many of whom landed, and died, on the D-Day landings on 6th June 1944. Wreaths will be laid by the tree and prayers will be said. Anybody who would like to attend would be most welcome.
