Your support needed to protect one of Bookham’s green spaces from development

Nomination to have the land at The Garstons adjacent to 1 Stonehill Close, Great Bookham as an Asset of Community Value under the Assets of Community Value (England) Regulations 2012.

Planning Ref: MO/2020/1431

As a Bookham resident you will be familiar with the parcel of land situated in The Garstons that provides a pathway to the rear of the Old Barn Hall field, the Old Barn Hall and to Church Road. (aka The Garstons Triangle).

This is used by many residents for recreational purposes and by MVDC vehicles for maintenance of the field. Additionally, the access provided is essential for Bookham Village Day which some thousands of Bookham villagers attend each year. Without access this significant annual event cannot proceed as it represents one of three essential safety exit routes demanded under Health and Safety regulations.

Due to developer speculation on the site in recent months, the Bookham Community Association (BCA), supported by the Bookhams Residents’ Association (BRA) and residents in The Garstons, Stonehill Close and Mead Crescent, have made a planning application to Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) for the land to be nominated as an Asset of Community Value. Hence giving some protection to the land for all residents to enjoy and to use on a daily basis as part of village life.

The application is now under review and if you support this important planning application by the BCA please do so submitting your comments to MVDC. (Comments close on 16th September 2020).
