Recycling Just Got Easier in Bookham

Great news for Bookham households — from 31 March 2026, your mixed recycling bin will take even more everyday items. Wherever you live in Surrey, you’ll now be able to recycle foil, aerosol cans, squeezy metal and plastic tubes, cartons, and non‑black plastic plant pots.

A few quick steps help make sure everything gets recycled properly:

  • Scrunch clean foil into a ball at least the size of a tennis ball

  • Rinse foil trays

  • Make sure aerosol cans are empty

  • Empty squeezy tubes (toothpaste, tomato purée, etc.)

  • Clean non‑black plastic plant pots

  • Empty, rinse and (if possible) remove lids from Tetra Pak cartons

By recycling more, we’re helping reduce waste, protect our local environment and keep Surrey among the top‑performing recycling areas in England.

These changes are part of the national Simpler Recycling rollout, designed to make recycling easier and more consistent across the country.

Not sure which bin something goes in? Try the Surrey Recycles search tool — just enter your postcode and the item, and it will tell you exactly what to do.
